In short, Itachi was as capable as 12 year old Sakura long before he hit 12 himself. My bet is that he could do by aged 8, since at that time, he had mastered the Sharingan so it's irrelevant if he did it on his first time or not because he would've been 4 years younger and capable, when Sakura wasn't.
