Kakashi called him a genius of hardwork. Yes, gai trained him personally, but sakura was trained directly by tsunade who is legendary for her medical jutsu across the whole continent as well as one of the strongest characters in the series.

Kakashi also called her a natural in picking up on how to do jutsus. Thats why they never showed her in part 1 training when sasuke and naruto would train since she already picked up on each jutsu they were supposed to learn

Also kishi used plot no jutsu on sakura at the last second being able to have complete control over her summon as well as her seal thing that happened to pop up when she needed it

no....lee TRAINED his body to be strong enough to withstand the gates, and managed to learn the gates through hard work....but if you cant see that and only see what is above, then your precious sakura was also born with super good chakra control, and therofore did not have to work for that. So she was never a normal ninja.

I have to believe that Lee was more of an underdog though.
She wasn't really ever treated as an underdog, except by Ino.

The 3 "losers" of part 1 were Naruto Lee and Hinata IMO.
