You do realize it just creates more cells to replace the dead ones. A process that happens naturally but at a much slower rate. Inevitably, it can only happen so many times so it does indeed shorten your natural lifespan. This was stated by Tsunade in Part 1. & Madara stated that Tsunade's healing was inferior to Hashirama's --

likely due to Hashirama's healing to actually repair cells rather than force the body to make new ones.
