Sakura obviously can't tank it as far as she doesn't have Tsunade-level regeneration but she can still counter this jutsu because she dodged attacks from Sasori who has 4.5 speed Hiruzen has 3.0 and Sakura imporved a lot
this is why I believe she can counter Shuriken Shadow Clone Technique aswell

Hiruzen can't make too many shadow clones (2/3) even the shockwaves of her hit destroys them so this jutsu will be a non-factor

Summoning Technique (Monkey King: Enma) and Dead Demon Consuming Seal
are the only problems but I don't think a staff can rival 100 human sized slugs also it has no counter to acid
as for the dead demon consuming seal it's a suicidal jutsu which means he can possibly tie

Also, Hiruzen was using these attacks against the First and Second Hokage's along with Orochimaru. The third has far more battle intelligence and experience than Sakura, and he definitely knows how to counter Katsuyu, considering he trained Tsunade.

I have trouble saying Tsunade could defeat Hiruzen, let alone her student who still isn't on her level yet.

Hiruzen would use Mudslide Wall to counter Katsuya's acid.

Sakura might be able to dodge those. Sasori's speed has nothing to do with the speed of poisoned needles or the speed of his puppets, Sakura at the time also had a 3.5 in speed.
Though remember, Dragon Napalm is like three Water Dragon Missiles.

1. They can jump over a shockwave.
2. They are unkillable, lol. The Senju bros. stabbed the clones a bunch of times and they spit blood but never poofed.
3. The Shadow Clones can kick ass.

Hiruzen could probably counter/dodge the acid and slap an exploding seal on her.

Hiruzen also likely has a bunch of other jutsus, like Shadow Imitation, Super-Size Expansion, etc.

Nah, Tsunade shits on Hiruzen with almost the lowest difficulty. With her Byakugou active ( or with the Sozo Saize ) she can tank all of Hiruzen's D rank Katons. Tsunade faster, has better stamina, she is more flexibe, etc. Hiruzen isn't defeating her.

Hype is worthless in a vs thread.

The acid hits the wall first, it will melt through the wall, but it will stop the acid from splashing onto him.

Bells and whistles. Getting stabbed repeatedly in the chest is an excellent way to get killed even if it's less impressive looking.

As I said, they can jump over that shockwave. What will that shockwave do, anyway? It might crush them but it's also equally as likely to knock them on their asses if they don't jump over it, the only guaranteed damage the Shadow Clones would receive is by taking a direct hit from Sakura.
If Katsuya spits a shower of acid, and Sakura's close enough so that the shockwave reaches the Shadow Clones... Sakura would likely get hit too. Not a great plan.
Also, while Hiruzen and the Shadow Clones are jumping, Hiruzen can extend Enma, and the Shadow Clones can use Shuriken Shadow Clone and Dragon Napalm on Sakura who's temporarily left open to attack as seen here:
