I feel like this is almost like asking what is the point of a support role in a game. You don't do all the awesome high action stuff, but your okay with that, because you get the gratitude (hopefully) when you save other people who try to do awesome stuff when they **** up.

People hate Sakura because they expect her to be like Naruto and Sasuke and do things that are "awesome" but she doesn't because since she has been trained as a medic, she is more of a support role, she still has her part, and she is still helpful, just there are a lot of 6-10 year olds who only react to things that are "awesome" and everything else is "boring". They hit puberty, and now their hormonal rage has been unleashed on Sakura since they have nothing else to rage at.
