They are both idiots. Sakura actually thought she could take on Sasuke alone(LOL!). But that's not the worst bit. Let's break down what she did:
A:She treated her comrades as nothing more than tools. The minute Sakura got Kiba to tell her where Sasuke was, she knocks them out with a poison sleeping gas bomb!
B: Her strategy is appalling. She KNEW Sasuke had spent time with Orochimaru. In fact, she even suspected that he had been given drugs. Surely she would have known that Sasuke was given immunity to most poisons. But oh no-a poison kunai is enough to solo sasuke(sakura logic.)
C: She knew Sasuke had joined the akatsuki. Surely she would have known that Obito or Kisame(or someone else) might have been with him. She was lucky that TObi left just before she arrived, or she would have been raped.

As for Hinata, she's just stupid in general.(At least sakura has her smart moments..)

Sakura's is a book nerd IIRC. She's probably a walking dictionary, but has 0 battle feats of intelligence or wit. And she makes stupid decisions like biting Zaku's arm instead of attacking, trying to run into Haku's Ice Mirrors, attempting to kill Sasuke alone, and she wears a skirt into battle with hot pants underneath and hasn't invented a single jutsu in the entirety of her ninja career. Pretty stupid imo.

Hinata answered all the questions on the Chuunin Exam written test by herself like Sakura. And Hinata knew Naruto needed help and charged Pain to help. And she saved the world again by cheering Naruto up after Neji died.

Looks like Sakura is smarter if you need a nerd to do your homework, but Hinata is smarter in practicality and saving people.

Don't underestimate Sakura. She really has a sharp mind. She is not just a nerd. This is one of the examples:
