Well, in English dub even 2 days old fetus could watch it.

English sub is different. Many characters die and it's very emotional. It also slightly touches on a topic of homosexuality in later seasons (younger audience won't even notice this since it's very subtle - holding hands is as far as it goes). But taking into consideration what kids watch nowadays, SM is a beautiful story about love and friendship and IMO there's no reason you shouldn't let your sister watch it
