The fact that he's got the Rinnegan, along with being the Juubi's Jinchuuriki kind of does make him invincible. Sure, you may have a point about Hashirama and Madara being pretty equal to him without the Juubi's power, but the fact still stands, he was the Jin of the Juubi, and that puts him above any character we've seen so far.

Madara isn't on his level yet. He in his actual life didn't have the rinnegan while young. If he manages to be resurrected in his current form and then become the Juubi jinchuriki then he will be comparable( to assume he will succeed is speculation), but not the same (the sage had his tools and we can only speculate at his chakra levels). Hashirama didn't have the rinnegan and wasn't a jinchuriki of any bijuu let alone the Juubi. Hashirama's hype was compared to the hype of the so6p not the other way around.
