There could be any number of Sage modes really, they seem to correlate between having a summons that has a Sage as the head of the animals under the contract summons so who knows. But right now there seems to be 4: Dragon, Toad, Slug (haven't seen it yet but I think it exist), and 6 Paths...
Wait, was Nagato's six paths kinda like how when pa toad told Naruto that Jaraiya was an imperfect sage because he needed ma and pa to assist his Sage transformation? I mean Nagato seemed to actually need the extra bodies to embody the 6 paths, maybe he was an imperfect sage, just a thought.
