Sage Mode is the direct result of blending Natural Energy in to the users own chakra flow which empowers his chakra drastically b. Three variations exist and were shown so far. The first one is linked to the Toads of Mount Myobokuzan who first taught it to Jiraya and then to Naruto. The second one is linked to the Snakes of Ryūchi Cave and was first introduce by Kabuto but revealed to have been discovered by Orochimaru. The thirds instance was showcased by Hashirama Senju and was linked to his own Mokuton KG.

Once the user activates Sage Mode, he forcefully assimilates natural energy from his surroundings into himself, empowering himself for a given time. This time is limited because the user is incapable of continuously absorb natural energy as he moves about, except for certain Canon bios.
Sage Mode Abilities

  • Sage Mode is divided into two classifications, Imperfect and Perfect Sage Mode.
Imperfect Sage Mode is the result of improperly balancing one’s chakra with natural energy. The result is an incomplete and animalistic transformation, often reliant on external means to sustain. Imperfect Sage mode users of Toad variation gain warts, webbed hands and feet, allowing them to jump twice as high and swim at twice their normal speed. Imperfect Sage mode users of Snake variation gain scales, horns and brilles protecting their eyes from visual attacks (such as flash bombs), dust and debris as well as genjutsu cast through eye contact. Both variations gain pigmentation around the eye and a change in eyes themselves (depending on variation).
  • Perfect Sage Mode is the complete transformation and illustrates a person’s mastery in Senjutsu. Their transformation involve no change in appearance except pigmentation around the eye and a change in eyes themselves (depending on variation). However, Perfect Sages are still able to take on the animalistic abilities of their Imperfect counterparts, by forcing a imbalance in their chakra composition. Perfect Sages are also able to collect natural energy at a faster rate, eventually gaining the ability to instantly activate Sage mode. Lastly, Senjutsu in conjunction with Perfect Sage mode can interact with Yin-Yang release and spiritual/intangible techniques normally not possible.

Activation Rules

  • Sage mode requires natural energy to be collected within one’s body requiring the user to meditate. The amount of time one dedicates to collecting natural energy determines the duration of his mode. In general, Sage mode lasts as long as the user has a minimum amount of Senjutsu Chakra circulating through the body.
  • A single turn of meditation converts 10% of the body’s chakra to Senjutsu chakra. An Imperfect Sage can convert a total 30% of his/her maximum chakra reserve to Senjutsu chakra at a given time. A Perfect Sage can convert a total 40% of his/her maximum chakra reserve to Senjutsu Chakra. The body state changes to Sage mode after first turn (10%) of meditation but does not consume chakra until the user stops meditating. Consequently this also means, meditation stops any passive or active chakra consuming skill the user has employed.
  • Additionally, Perfect Sages possess the ability to instantly activate Sage mode without meditation with 10% of their maximum reserve as Senjutsu Chakra once per battle. Naruto Uzumaki bios are able to instantly activate with 20% of their maximum reserve and up to 50% of their reserve. He is also able to use Sage Mode with his Bijuu Modes, the effects stacking together barring speed increases.

Restrictions

  • Use of Imperfect Sage Mode requires Genin Rank; Perfect requires Chūnin rank. In the case of Wood Sage Mode, the user needs to follow Madara and Hashirama individual bio rules. Same for Kabuto in regards to Snake SM.
  • Imperfect Sage mode requires 3,000 kumi.
  • Perfect Sage Mode requires 6,000 kumi.
  • Techniques that prolong Sage Mode by collecting Natural Energy only pertains to Imperfect Sage Mode.
  • Perfect Sage mode cannot have an Advanced Ninjutsu.
  • Jiraiya biographies is able to use Imperfect Sage mode (Toad Variation) while Uzumaki Naruto and Minato Namikaze biographies are able to use Perfect Sage mode (Toad Variation).
  • Kabuto Yakushi biographies are able to use Perfect Sage mode (Snake Variation) and Senju Hashirama and Uchiha Madara are able to use Perfect Sage mode (Wood release Variation)

Sage Mode Mastery

Sage Mode Mastery Rules:
  • Sage Mode Masteries are basic enhancements that are applied to all Sage Modes, including custom variants on their respective contracts.
  • The user will choose a single Mastery for their Sage Mode, earning its specialization through Ninja World missions or battles. They may switch their Mastery in a bio update but this will reset their progress.
  • Submit Mastery Submissions here.

Energy Mastery:
Energy Masters are specialists in gathering, converting, and employing Senjutsu in battle.

Sage Master (Passive): The user’s maximum Chakra conversion capacity is increased by an additional 20%. Earned by default by those who choose the Energy Mastery path.

Wrath of Nature (N/A): Energy Masters are able to submit Senjutsu customs with higher-than-normal damage. Wrath of Nature is earned after completing four B-Rank Ninja World missions or two battles.

Nature Attunement (Passive): Energy Masters become able to use accumulated Senjutsu outside of their mode; this is similar to the state of Six Paths Senjutsu acquired by Hagoromo, Hamura, and other Six Paths biographies, without the Six Paths benefits. These Senjutsu techniques are not boosted by the mode, but they do inherit the unique effects of Senjutsu, such as countering Yin-Yang Release’s potent effects. Techniques used under Nature Attunement have a higher Chakra cost, requiring an additional 20 Chakra to cast; this does not increase the Chakra potency within a technique. Earned after completing 6 A-Rank missions in the Ninja World or 3 battles.

Innervation (S-Rank, active/passive): Passively, Innervation allows the user to accumulate 20 Natural Energy per turn without meditating or remaining still. While the user meditates their accumulation rate is increased by an additional 25%. When activated, Innervation enhances this passive accumulation rate to 40 Natural Energy per turn and increases the damage of any technique used while under Nature Attunement by an additional 20 damage and 10 Chakra. Innervation is not active while the user is in Sage Mode. Earned after completing 4 S-Rank and 2 A-Rank missions in the Ninja World or 4 battles.
Mode Mastery:
Mode Masters are more attuned to their contract animal or element, enhancing Sage Mode itself.

Sage Master (Passive): The user is able to activate Sage Mode passively. Earned by default by those who choose the Mode Mastery path.

Apex Predator (N/A): Mode Masters are able to submit Senjutsu customs with higher-than-normal damage. Apex Predator is earned after completing four B-Rank Ninja World missions or two battles.

Synergistic Harmony (Passive): Synergistic Harmony is activated if the user has a summoning animal present on the battlefield at any time when the user’s Sage Mode reservations are about to expire. Similar to Ma and Pa in Naruto’s Sage Mode, the user becomes able to draw upon their summon’s own energies when their reserves fall to zero. This allows the user to extend their mode by an additional turn per summon on the battlefield, up to a maximum of three turns. While Synergistic Harmony is active the user is able to use any amount of Sage Chakra from their summon even if their own reserves are depleted. During this time the user’s summon is immobile and cannot defend itself; should it be killed or dispersed back to its home, Synergistic Harmony will end. Earned after completing 6 A-Rank missions in the Ninja World or 3 battles.

Honed Instincts (S-Rank, passive): While in Sage Mode the user is boosted depending on the number of summons currently on the field alongside them. For each summon present on the battlefield the user gains an additional 2 base speed points, 10 damage, and 10 Health Points healed per turn, stacking with any source, up to a maximum of three summons. Earned after completing 4 S-Rank and 2 A-Rank missions in the Ninja World or 4 battles.
