Many people are making threads explaining what Sage Mode is, so ill just add my two cents analysis
What I think is, the Slug, Toad and Snake summon are the only "Sage Mode" summons. Depending on which animal you have signed with, you can enter Sage Mode and gain a unique ability.
Toad Sage Mode: I think this one's unique ability is enhanced physical prowess. This gives the user stronger skin, increased strength, improved muscle power (which allows them to jump high, move faster etc). Enhanced strength allows them to use Frog Fu to its fullest potentail.
Slug Sage Mode: This gives the user an enhanced healing ability. Minor injuries are healed up in no time flat and when the user receives a serious injury, they are kept alive long enough for the injury to be healed.
Dragon Snake Mode: I think this might, MIGHT enhance the users Ninjutsu. Why? Because Oro was obsessed with ninjutsu, so its logical to think his Sage Mode or at least the Sage Mode he was after, increases ninjutsu.
