no i think sm and ms are way different the abilities of the user are different as well

but naruto's sage mode cannot beat ms madara.
So it is clear that the user is a crucial criteria.

Sm=ms??!? 0_o i can't beleive everybody is debating about this lol... Sm is dependent on how powerful the user is while ms isn't... for example giving chouji sm wouldn't make him equal to ms sasuke... So the idea of ms=sm doesn't make sense to me... Hope i made sense

Agreed lets say we give 1st hokage the sage mode then that would mean sage mode hashirama > ems madara

And i think naruto said that beacause his base is a lot weaker than ms sasuke

Itachi > jaraiya because itachi raped orochimaru in a minute and a half and jaraiya=orochimaru. Itachi knew not to fight jaraiya because he would have to use ms and that would be stupid seeing that the whole point secretly was just to see sasuke in which he did.

Using this type of logic doesn't work because different people are better or worse match ups for each other. Just saying...
