Why do people believe this (even himself)? He just discovered it. Just like Fire was discovered by our ancestors, not made, AND just like Benjamin Franklin DISCOVERED that electricity was a usable form of energy, not invented it.

He didn't create charka he created ninshuu. The juubi/shinji created charka

This^ was it stated in the manga that he created chakra? I thought it said he was the father of all Jutsu...which we learned wasn't true either I suppose as he himself said he brought Ninshu to the world not Ninjutsu, but that's another subject.

There's a difference between an elemental chakra nature and a natural element.

Also, I thought it was obvious that he didn't create chakra, since it's said that all chakra came from the God Tree/Juubi. He only created Ninshu.
