How is that show sad in any way?

OT: Sad, as in, "It's sad that this show was ever made," would have to go to Wolf's Rain. That show absolutely sucked, IMO.
Sad, as in emotionally sad, then I'd say, well, idk. I don't watch any anime that would make me cry or anything. The ending of YYH is a tear-jerker, though.

Haha how was the end of Yu yu Hakuasho a tear jerk? i assume you mean when when Yusuke came back from demon wolrd and reunited with his frienda. that wasn't sad. I don't mean sad as in you wanna cry more you feel bad for the character like in season two of Dtb. Suo thought her father was killed by Hei, and people where tryin to kill her so she had to go on the run with Hei. Then she found out she was a clone of the former Suo who died years ago, both her bestfriends were killed. Only thing she wanted was a normal life. In the end when when Yin broke the meteor core she started to lose all the memories she thought was real. Then she died. I guess i felt bad for her.

Evangelion. I personally don't like it because the main character is a whiny little bitch but from what I've seen of it everyone's life sucks.
There was another weird one I don't remember the name of but long story short dude gets sent into the future, all his friends are dead, hooks up with adult version of his girlfriend who is totally insane and dying, ends in murder suicide between the two for some reason I don't remember. Came out in late 90s I think...this is gonna drive me nuts all night.
Grave of the Fireflies was pretty sad too.

I'd agree that Clannad is the saddest I've seen, it's a very emotional story and truly the most profound I have ever seen. So many life messages and the way the tragedy hits is like no other in anime. Clannad is a really beautiful anime and it is truly an anime I could never regret watching.

Close ones would have to be Angel Beats and Anohana. Angel Beats was a great story overall with a lot of really touching moments near the end, while Anohana has what I would deem the most emotional ending I've ever seen. Anohana's other episodes were good and set the stage, but the last episode was truly what made it so emotional. Seeing how all the characters interacted and how everything was resolved was by far the most tearjerking last episode I have ever seen and if I ever watch it again, I have to take care that nobody else is around to see the crying.

Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom. Probably the most emotional show I've seen, whilst still packing some amazing action sequences.

Anohana is really sad as well. A manly tear was shed for the ending and I'm not ashamed to say so.
