RWBY is a new animated adventure from Monty Oum and Rooster Teeth. Monty has worked on many projects including Dead Fantasy and Red vs Blue. The world of RWBY is colorful, vibrant and deadly. And the characters that these trailers focus on are even more so.
Ruby Rose is one of the main characters of RWBY and her weapon is a High Caliber Sniper Scythe named Crescent Rose. This weapon allows her to travel at high speeds by pointing the barrel in the opposite direction of her intended destination. She can also use this to increase momentum of her swings and make clear and precise cuts. She looks innocent enough, but mess with her and she will turn you into a bloody mess on the floor.
Weiss Schnee is the main character of the second trailer, fighting a animated piece of armor using her signature weapon, a Dust Rapier, Myrtenaster. It utilizes Dust to activate powerful magic-like abilities which she can use to increase her movement, trap enemies, unleash devastating elemental attacks or super charge her own weapon, giving it an extreme boost in physical capabilities. She acts so confident, but at the same time she looks so conflicted, only time will tell her story.
Blake Belladonna and Adam are the main characters introduced in the third trailer, and the first to have voices in the series. Blake uses a Variant Ballistic Chain Scythe called Gambol Shroud, it is essentially a small black Katana concealed in a cleaver like gun blade with a ribbon attached to the firing mechanism, giving it a very unique tactical advantage. Adam uses a combination of a Rifle and Ninjato called Wilt and Blush. While Blake uses her speed and agility to outclass opponents Adam uses Iai to cut straight through them and kill them in one stroke. They seem to have some kind of connection but Blake abandons him at the end of the trailer.
Finally we have Yang Xiao Long. Her name can either mean "Little Light Dragon" and/or "Small Dragon of the Sun". This is probably a nod to her hair which burns a bright yellow when she is enraged. Her weapons Ember Celica are a pair of Dual Ranged Shot Gauntlets. These can be used to either engage in long range projectile fights or be used to increase the effectiveness of her hand to hand combat. Her stance and style are reminiscent of a boxers, keeping light on her feet and having her arms close to her body making her a harder target to hit especially when on the move. Like her sister Ruby she looks cute and innocent, but treat her like a kid and she will punch and kick the smugness out of you.
The theme songs for all 4 trailers are "Red Like Roses", "Mirror Mirror", "From Shadows" and "I Burn".
The opening theme at the end is "This Will Be The Day".
