Hello guys I have been wondering about Rukia as a character that Rukia might be the psychopath character. I shall now argue that Rukia has a serious dark side - she may seem sweet, but in reality, she may just be fooling us all. Just consider these totally compelling and in no way made-up reasons!
1. How she dealt with Orihime’s hollow brother.
The first time I became suspicious of Rukia was quite early in Bleach - namely when Rukia helped Ichigo take down Orihime’s hollowfied brother, Sora. Ichigo messes up his first attack, accidentally breaking Sora’s mask and revealing his identity. And that’s where it gets weird. Rukia tells Ichigo that the only way to kill hollows is from behind, so that you never see their face and realize that they were once human. This naturally freaks Ichigo out, because how can he kill his friend’s brother?? Rukia tells him to deal with it. And only later, after Sora is about ready to commit hollow suicide, does Rukia FINALLY tell Ichigo that actually soul reapers don’t kill hollows, they purify them and send them to Soul Society. Why, exactly, did she omit that crucial piece of information? Why let Ichigo believe that he was killing his friend’s brother, when a simple “oh you’re not really killing him” would make it all better? Well, either Rukia (a) was negligent or (b) she likes watching Ichigo squirm. And given the rest of my reasons, you may come to believe that it is (b).
2. She uses violence to control her 15 year-old human.
Bleach happens because Rukia decides to use a 15 year-old to do her job, since she’s lost her powers and doesn’t want Soul Society to know. Ichigo is a bit reluctant at first, but Rukia gets around that. Mostly through violence - she forcibly removes Ichigo from his body, hits him when he’s annoying, and generally just makes him do what she wants. Sure, it’s cute when she does it, but even so. She’s strong-arming a dumb human teenager here.
3. We know she likes to affect cuteness.
Plus, we know that Rukia likes to pretend to be cute. She pretends to be an average schoolgirl for the benefit of Ichigo’s friends, and later pretends to be a destitute child to get housing from Isshin. So what if the acting doesn’t stop there? What if the cuteness we see Rukia affect with Ichigo is also just an act? What if her nature is…something entirely different?
4. That time she wrote on her hand to threaten Ichigo.
Basically, it all comes down to that time she wrote on her hand to threaten Ichigo. They’re in class, and Ichigo is freaking out because that soul reaper he met the other night is now at his school. She extends her hand in greeting…and on the hand is written “Make a scene and I will kill you.” So there we have it all - she’s being really cute (but it’s an act), she’s threatening Ichigo (to get him to do what she wants), and she clearly thinks it’s hilarious (because she likes to mess with humans?).
5. She kills Kaien…twice.
But wait, you say. What about when Rukia killed Kaien? That CRUSHED her. If she were really an evil villain mastermind, then why would she be so affected by Kaien’s death? And yes, hypothetical reader, you are right. Kaien’s death affected Rukia a lot. But I would counter with the fact that she killed him twice. First as Kaien, then as Aaroniero. And once might be a tragic accident, sure - but twice? That starts to get weird, is all I’m saying.
6. Her sword power is ice.
Rukia’s zanpakuto power is ice. That may mean nothing, but why would I stop drawing outrageous conclusions now? So I’ll just quietly point out that ice is cold and unfeeling and that that’s the shape of Rukia’s soul. Moving on.
7. She lives in a human’s closet.
Rukia likes to live in Ichigo’s closet. That may not at first seem like a psychopathic thing to do - it’s just a little weird. But then you remember who else lives in kids’ closets - namely, boogeymen. Coincidence?
8. Byakuya tried too hard to keep her out of battle.
Then there’s the fact that Byakuya keeps Rukia from getting a seated officer’s position, even though she’s qualified to have one. And who else do we know who is kept out of battle despite her qualifications? That’s right - Unohana. So perhaps Byakuya, like Yamamoto, knows something about Rukia that we do not - something that made him too afraid to put her near battle…until of course he realized that there was just no keeping her out of it.
9. She knows too much.
Also, Rukia just knows too much. Like when Ichigo is struggling with his hollow powers right after the Soul Society arc, and Rukia shows up and tells him how to deal with them….even though Ichigo never told her about his inner hollow. Or when Ichigo shows up to fight Yammy after Ulquiorra’s defeat, and Rukia notices that his mask is different. The mask that she’s never seen before, so far as we know. So how does Rukia know so much about Ichigo, when she seems to have no source for the info? I’m thinking hidden cameras. You know, like Aizen.
10. All of Bleach could be her doing.
Okay. So Aizen brags that all of Bleach is his doing. But come on. Rukia gives Ichigo his shinigami powers. Then she puts herself on TV so that Soul Society finds her. Then she runs out of the house, so that Byakuya and Renji find her. Then she lets Ichigo get beat up just enough that he loses his powers, but not enough to die. Then she goes to Soul Society - and of course Ichigo follows. Later she helps him get his hollow powers under control. Trains Orihime so that Aizen notices her and kidnaps her. Goes to Hueco Mundo to oversee things there. Then when Ichigo loses his powers again, she doesn’t tell him that she’s trying to get him his powers back, so that Ichigo goes to the fullbringers. Then sh shows up after Ichigo’s fullbring is perfected to add shinigami powers to that. Oh and the hogyoku was inside of her. So is Rukia the secret big bad who has been masterminding all of Bleach for her own nefarious purposes? I’m just saying it’s possible.
