Rikudou Senjutsu is the highest form of senjutsu. Two requirements are needed to awaken this power, All nine bijuu chakras and rikudou chakra.

By becoming juubi jinchuriki one automatically gains Rikudou Senjutsu(Kaguya,Hagoromo,Madara and Obito) as this meets both requirements. However similar to uchiha and rinnegan, only senju/uzumaki whom mastered sage mode and possess all bijuu chakras and Rikudou Chakra can awaken RSM.

The databook list only two people as Rikudou Sage Mode users which are Ashura Otsutsuki and Naruto Uzumaki.

Naruto already a perfect sage, throughout the war received all the bijuu chakras. However Naruto didn't awaken RSM until he was blessed with Rikudou Chakra.

People are confused as to how ashura awakened said power without being a jinchuriki. The answer is simple, Ashura inherited his fathers body/yang energy.

The bijuu fall under the yang category, the are literally physical massess of chakra. Ashura inherited his fathers yang chakra, in short ashura inherited juubi chakra naturally.

Also Ashura is Hagoromo's biological son, it goes without saying he possess Rikudou Chakra.

Ashura is essentially a juubi jinchuriki without being an actual host, just like Naruto.

1. 9 bijuu chakra helps awaken the senjutsu of hagoromoo. Hagormoo chakra was Sasuke's deal to awaken the rinnegan.

Wrong, Ashura used the bijuus chakra because every one was connected with Ninshuu.

It's the same thing Naruto used to give the shinobi alliance chakra cloak.

This is an interesting thread with a lot of well constructed arguments, and it's definitely a subject I think about often. Obviously, the answer to this question is highly subjective, and I don't believe there is a single right answer. I like reading everyone's opinion on the matter, though, and I hope this discussion goes on.

Naruto didn't need to be JuubiJin because Uzumaki inherited Gedo traits and his body is the substitute for the statue hence why he was able to keep and use the chakra the bijuu gave him.

Yeah, ashura was always powerful. However unlike indra he was no genius, by "bloom" I guess hagoromo meant ashura had to train excessively and rely on others to teach him to master his power. Like Naruto.
