Don't be ridiculous. You know Luffy can decide which part of his body he turns in gear second, right? For the red hawk he only needed to turn his arm like that, not his body. He wasn't moving at maximal speed

You can see steam coming from his hat, shirt and left leg, and his right leg is all blurred out, which may be an indicator of fast movement.

I realized something though, Luffy may not have been traveling at his Gear 2 speed after all, since the snap of punching his arm at such speed while it's stretched out should cause the momentum I was talking about. It explains how he couldn't close that short distance before Trebol finished talking, and he didn't actually launch his arm until after Shambles, so yeah, I was probably wrong.

No, it's not against how Gear 2 works. It's simply Luffy controlling his Devil Fruit. Remember, these are essentially super powers, anything goes.

The Gomu Gomu no Mi can simply be used, by those with enough control, to accelerate blood flow in a body part, but once only that body part, once the blood flow leaves the body part, it slows down to normal, and when it enters the part, it speeds up. Simple as that, internal regulation. People do it all the time with homeostasis.

even super powers has a logic sanji turning his leg int fire ones because he spins very fast so the Friction makes his leg sets on fire if he pulled it without an explanition that would be lame even for a superpower

Sanji no longer spins and builds up friction to ignite his leg or body. They can just ignite whenever he pleases.
