Having existed for quite some time, many abbreviations for concepts in the Role-Play have become commonplace. These abbreviations, regularly used among members, can be rather confusing to navigate and learn for newcomers(and even oldies who return). So this guide will function as a rubric for the many abbreviations that have become common lingo in the RP.
AB: refers to AnimeBase, the website that the role-play(RP) takes place on.


AE: refers to Advanced Elements. Within the series, many Advanced Elements are also known under the umbrella term of "Kekkei Genkai." Within the official AnimeBase Naruto role-play, Advanced Elements are distinguished with its own terminology from Kekkei Genkai(Kekkei Genkai explained further below as well). On AnimeBase, Advanced Elements refer to abilities that are formed through the combination of more than one of the Basic Five Elements(Fire Release, Lightning Release, Water Release, Earth Release, and Wind Release). Examples of Advanced Elements include Ice Release(combination of Wind and Water), Lava Release(Combination of Earth and Fire), Wood Release(combination of Waer and Earth), etc. Some Advanced Elements, such as Sasuke's Blaze Release or Oonoki's Dust Release, have limitations. AN: refers to Advanced Ninjutsu. Advanced Ninjutsu are adaptations of various abilities in the series that were shown to be unique forms of Ninjutsu, but not to the point of being a Hiden Ability or Kekkei Genkai, such as Sai's Ink Ninjutsu or Sound Ninjutsu. BA: refers to the Battle Arena. The Battle Arena is a subforum where members are capable of engaging in fights with their biographies freely. Members are able to fight at any time with anyone they choose, requiring members to simply have an approved biography and to make the thread to do battle in. The Battle Arena subforum can be found here, and follows the Basic Battle rules found here.

Bio: refers to biographies, the "character" that everyone uses to role-play as. Biographies are submitted in the Biography section here, and the basic biography rules can be found here.

CC: refers to Custom Clans. Custom Clans are able to be submitted by members who have attained the rank of Official Sage, and are capable of possessing special abilities unique to each clan. These are the custom counterparts of canon clans such as the Hyuga Clan, or the Uchiha Clan. A Custom Clan's abilities are considered their version of either a Hiden Art or a Kekkei Genkai(both explained below). CCJ: refers to Custom Clan Jutsu. These are the techniques that a Custom Clan is able to use, and are bound to the Custom Clan. Each Custom Clan is able to submit 8 Custom Clan Jutsu, and each member of the Custom Clan can then submit unique Custom Clan jutsu of their own known as Personal Custom Clan Jutsu(PCCJ), with the permission of the clan leader. CFS: refers to Custom Fighting Styles. Custom Fighting Styles, as the name implies, are fields of combat that can be submitted by users. Custom Fighting Styles allow the user to incorporate Weapons, Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, and Taijutsu together to create a new method of combat. Custom Fighting Styles typically involve incorporating a weapon or Taijutsu with one of the other fields in order to increase the capabilities of said weapon or the user's Taijutsu. CFSJ: refers to Custom Fighting Style Jutsu. Custom Fighting Style Jutsu are the individual techniques that are submitted once a Custom Fighting Style is approved. There can be 8 Custom Fighting Style jutsu per style. Custom Fighting Style Jutsu are submitted here.

CE: refers to Custom Elements. Custom Elements can be considered the custom variation of Advanced Elements(AEs). Like Advanced Elements, Custom Elements typically consist of multiple elements combined together. However, some Custom Elements exist that incorporate fields such as Medical Ninjutsu and Yin Release. Being submitted by members, Custom Elements are owned by the submitters and can be taught to students of the submitter's choice. CEJ: refers to Custom Element Jutsu. Once a Custom Element is approved, the creator/co-creator can then submit the jutsu for the Custom Element that are utilized in battle. Each Custom Element can have 8 techniques that are used by the creator, co-creator, and the students of the Custom Element. Custom Element Jutsu are submitted here.

CES: refers to Chakra-Enhanced Strength, the style of Taijutsu utilized by Sakura and Tsunade. Chakra-Enhanced Strength techniques can be found here.

CJ: refers to Custom Jutsu. Custom Jutsu are techniques that are created by members. The most common type of custom, the very term "customs" typically refers to Custom Jutsu. Custom Jutsu are the broadest type of custom field within AnimeBase, and is where one submits Custom Summoning Contracts, Custom Weapons, and jutsu under non-custom fields(Custom fields refer to fields such as Custom Elements, Custom Fighting Styles, etc. Custom Fields all have their unique threads found in the jutsu section here). Custom Jutsu are submitted here.

CSC: refers to Custom Summoning Contracts. Custom Summoning Contracts allow the user to summon creatures of their choice that were not seen being summoned in the series. Just as Jiraiya was able to summon Toads or Orochimaru able to summon Snakes, members are able to submit their own animals that they are capable of summoning. These animals, just as their canon counterparts, are even allowed to possess special abilities. CM: refers to Curse Marks, the sealing formula seen to be administered by Orochimaru on his subordinates to grant them power. Curse Mark rules can be found here.

CW: refers to Custom Weapons. As the name implies, Custom Weapons are weapons that members are able to submit that possess special abilities. Custom Weapon rules can be found here and are submitted in the Custom Jutsu Submission thread here.

CT: refers to Custom Technology, advanced technological items that members are able to submit to aid them in battle. Custom Technology are submitted in this thread here.

DBP: refers to Dead Bone Pulse, the Kekkei Genkai of the Kaguya clan that allows them to manipulate their skeletal structure for offense and defense. Dead Bone Pulse rules can be found here, and techniques can be found here.

EGF: refers to Earth Grudge Fear, the Kekkei Genkai utilized by Kakuzu to steal the abilities from others by harvesting their hearts through the use of his black threads. Earth Grudge Fear rules can be found here, and Earth Grudge Fear techniques can be used here.

EIG: refers to the Eight Inner Gates, the style of Taijutsu famously used by Might Gai and Rock Lee. Eight Inner Gates rules can be found here, and techniques can be found here.

EMS: refers to the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, the highest level of Sharingan available in the Role-Play. Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan rules can be found here.

FTG: refers to the Flying Thunder God technique, utilized by Minato and Tobirama.

Fuuin/Fuin: refers to Fuuinjutsu, the style of Ninjutsu revolving around the formation of seals and barriers. Fuuinjutsu rules can be found here, and Fuuinjutsu techniques can be found here.

Gen: refers to Genjutsu, techniques that utilize chakra to create illusions within the minds of others.

HA: refers to Hiden Arts, also known as Hidden Arts. Hiden Arts are abilities that are utilized by certain groups and clans, the methods of which are typically kept secret to the members of such clans/groups(hence the name). Examples of Hiden Abilities are the Nara Clan's ability to manipulate shadows, or the Akimichi's abilities to modify their bodies. Hiden Abilities are distinct from Kekkei Genkai in that the latter is limited in who can use it by bloodlines, while Hiden Abilities can theoretically be used by anyone should be taught the methods. Ken: refers to Kenjutsu, the method of fighting that involves using a sword. Kenjutsu techniques can be found here.

KG: refers to Kekkei Genkai. Broadly, Kekkei Genkai refers to any ability that one inherits as a result of their blood lineage. Kekkei Genkai can range from Dojutsu such as the Sharingan or Byakugan, to Advanced Elements such as Ice Release or Scorch Release, to "weird" abilities, such as the Dead Bone Pulse of the Kaguya clan. Kin: refers to Kinjutsu, or Forbidden Techniques. Kinjutsu are techniques that are restricted in usage due to either violating the natural laws of life and the universe in egregious methods, difficulty to learn, or cause tremendous damage to the user. Kinjutsu rules can be found here, and Kinjutsu techniques can be found here.

KT: refers to Konoha Town, an area where non-battle roleplaying can be done with one's bio. The Konoha Town section can be found here.

LM: refers to landmarks. Landmarks are locations within the Ninja World that members post in in order to engage in the Ninja World. Landmarks can be found in the Ninja World Map here.

Med: refers to Medical Ninjutsu, the style of Ninjutsu exhibited by Shinobi such as Tsunade and Sakura to heal, empower, and even cause damage. Medical Ninjutsu rules can be found here, and the techniques can be found here.

Mod: refers to a Moderator, members who regulate the Role-Play section.

MSC: refers to Mythical Summoning Contracts. Mythical Summoning Contracts are an advanced form of the Custom Summoning Contract, requiring a Kumi purchase. Mythical Summoning Contracts, as the name indicates, allows the user to summon fictional animals, such as Dragons, hydras, and morally-intact Conservatives. Mythical Summoning Contracts can be submitted in the Custom Jutsu Submission thread found here.

MS: refers to the Mangekyo Sharingan. Mangekyo Sharingan rules can be found here.

NB Tai/K. Tai: refers to NarutoBase Taijutsu/Kaito's Taijutsu. These two monikers are those given to the list of Taijutsu techniques written by the member Kaito that were incorporated into the Role-Play when it was hosted on NarutoBase. Requiring a Kumi purchase, the rules for Kaito's Taijutsu can be found here, and the techniques can be found here.

Nin: refers to Ninjutsu, ninja abilities that utilize chakra, effectively anything that isn't a Taijutsu or Genjutsu.

NW: Refers to the Ninja World subforum. The Ninja World section of the RolePlay functions similar to that of a sandbox area of the RolePlay, where members interact with each other, travel, collect artifacts, battle, etc. through their bios. More extensive than the Battle Arena, the Ninja World subforum can be found here.

RP: refers to "Role-Play," and most typically refers to the Naruto Role-Play that is hosted on AnimeBase. It may also refer to non-official role-plays that are hosted in the non-Naruto RP section. The official Naruto RP can be found here, while non-Naruto roleplays can be found here.

SHB: refers to Seven Heavenly Breaths, a style of Taijutsu seen in the anime and incorporated into the role-play that utilize specialized breathing techniques to increase the user's physical power, as well as the techniques that fall under the style. Seven Heavenly Breath techniques can be found here, and the rules can be found here.

S/T: refers to Space-Time Ninjutsu. Space-Time Ninjutsu are those that bend the fabric of space and time to create effects relating to teleporting, such as the Flying Thunder God technique.

SM: refers to Sage Mode, the ability to blend Natural Energy into one's body in order to enhance their abilities to a newer dimension. Sage Mode rules can be found here, and Sage Mode techniques(known as Senjutsu) can be found here.

SnK: refers to Souma no Kou, the Kekkei Genkai utilized by Sakon and Ukon to join their bodies at a cellular level. Souma no Kou rules can be found here, and Souma no Kou techniques can be found here.

Tai: refers to Taijutsu, abilities that revolve around using the body to attack.

T/F: refers to Time-frame. Time-frame is a unit within the Role-Play that refers to the sequence of events that the actions of biographies take place in.

T/L: refers to Time Limit, the amount of time each member has to reply in battle between moves. Failure to meet time-limit during battle allows the opponent's move to proceeded uninterrupted, starting the next turn in battle.

WW: refers to Witchwood Arena, a specialized arena within the Ninja World that can be found here.

WSE: refers to the Warring States Era, the current setting of the Ninja World. Specifications can be found in the Ninja World rules linked above.

Y/Y: refers to Yin-Yang Release and its components. Yin Release is the energy that governs imagination and the spiritual half of chakra, while Yang Release refers to vitality and the physical half of chakra. Yin-Yang Release refers to combination of Yin and Yang to achieve the pinnacle of manipulating chakra. Yin-Yang Rules can be found here, and Yin-Yang techniques can be found here.
