I understand why Naruto is so interesting as a character: everyone loves a goofball and kishimoto did a great job at us rooting for the underdog
Same for sasuke: he's the handsome, opposite genius with the dark past who's only goal is vengeance.
However I think someone like Rock Lee, has an infinitely more interesting storyline than both these guys. How cool is it that a ninja who can use ninjutsu (the very essence of being a ninja in Naruto), is able to keep up and ever surpass his peers?
There's so much interesting material to explore with this kind of background. From his triumphs to his fallings, you can take Rock Lees plight and build an entire serious series around it where he goes all the way from being ninjutsu less, to being the first Hokage who cant use ninjutsu. That'll be such a dope story
