Rock Lee was the first stepping stone for Sasuke's development as a ninja. Don't know why the fact that the fated encounter between Lee and Sasuke turned out to be Sasuke's ticket to victory would upset anyone - in fact, it makes Lee even more likable for his obliviousness to this, or just him generally not caring at all.
Lee is definitely far from a sore loser that would go up to Sasuke and proclaim that he only won because of the skills he copied. He was shown to recognize Sasuke's own talent and even admire him, which of course goes both ways, since Sasuke is undoubtedly grateful to Lee's massive contribution to his success.
In short: yeah, Lee's awesome, though I wouldn't say glorifying him by downplaying Sasuke when he himself did not do so is how it should be.
