Madara can switch with Limbo Madara at anytime.

Say Limbo is spiritual. Madara can switch with a spritual entity.

Sasuke's abilities lie in the physical realm: for example, Amaterasu was his main focus, not Tsukuyomi in the least bit.

Well, according to many people, Sasuke can switch with physical objects. That was how he connected his attacks with Madara. He probably switched that sword with an air molecule in front of Madara.

Also, Sasuke's Rinnegan is physical because his sword cannot affect Shadow Madara, who is spiritual.
