Honestly the rinnegan is so underrated
I dont know why everyone is shocked how madara knocked all bijuu over, with 1 eye
I dont blame you guys though, we've only seen fodder use the rinnegan.
Especially obito. That guy had no idea how to use the eye.
That's what I've been saying, and people have been disagreeing with me!
We've seen a number of cases of eye transplants, and the logic has always been the same: When you transplant an eye at level X, you lose access to any levels below X.
Kakashi gained his Sharingan at it's basic "activated" stage and could not deactivate it. Obito, the eye's owner, could activate and deactivate at will. This is why Kakashi kept the eye covered, because he couldn't turn it off.
Ao had a byakugan that he kept covered, probably for the same reason (it wasn't his, so he couldn't deactivate it)
Nagato had Madara's eyes and had access to all the Rinnegan techs (6-paths, chibaku tensei, rinne tensei, etc) but did not have access to the sharingan (genjutsu, predicting taijutsu) abilities or the MS (amaterasu, Susanoo) abilities of the eye.
Obito had Madara's eyes after Nagato, and also didn't have access to the lower-level techniques (susanoo, amaterasu).
Madara, because he was the original owner of the eyes, has access to all levels, sharingan, MS and Rinnegan.
Also, because Madara is a "perfect host" for the eye, he has access to levels of power that the other people did not have. This is why Madara gave his eyes to Nagato and not to anybody else: the host needs to have a certain power level in order to use certain techniques (bijuu sealing, Rinne Tensei). Somebody without enough power cannot use all the techniques, and cannot use them effectively enough.
