Hagoromo didn't literally give Sasuke the Rinnegan. He gave him chakra that along with other things allowed him to awaken the Rinnegan. Hagoromo probably didn't know what would happen.
Hagoromo knew exactly what power-ups Naruto and Sasuke were going to awaken because they have his children's genes, he witnessed Madara awaken Rinnegan and he was aware of the prophecy.
He knew that Naruto would be united with the bijuu and thus awaken the JuubiJin's chakra while he was aware giving Sasuke sage chakra would result in him awakening Rinnegan powers.
I would say the only thing Hagoromo didn't expect was for Sasuke to awaken a tomoe Rinnegan instead of the standard one because of his reaction towards the genjutsu used on the bijuu.
He wasn't confident in their victory. They were literally the only thing left that could stop Madara. They had to win. The fact Madara had to switch to EMS to use genjutsu on A is push enough to believe the Rinnegan doesn't have genjutsu itself. As I've said though, Hagoromo didn't have the eye himself nor can you transfer bloodline limits to people, so how would he do it? If we went with your logic then why wouldn't Madara have Amenotejikara? He awakened the Rinnegan with Hagoromo's chakra after all.

He even trusted Indra's transmigrant despite in the past having favored Ashura over Indra. If he was able to trust a transmigrant, he had complete faith in the both of them to stop JJ Madara and Kaguya. That's a Dual Rinnegan though which is different from a 6T Rinnegan. He still was amazed to the ability Sasuke could use his new found powers. His reactions weren't to the point that he didn't know anything about Sasuke's abilities.

Sasuke's Rinnegan = Hagoromo's chakra + Indra's chakra + Ashura's chakra.
Madara doesn't have Ameno because he doesn't have the 6T Rinnegan and it is only a special Rinnegan ability unique to Sasuke. Hagoromo knew about Ameno's poential and how Madara would be dumbfounded by it which is why he placed his faith in Sasuke. I am not denying there wasn't Hagoromo's chakra involved with the gift but as I said he knows about his gifts.

@Bold, If he was able to overcome the fear and place trust in an Indra Transmigrant that could likely in the future fall into the Curse of Hatred again, that means he was definitely confident in their skills. Yes it doesn't say this but it can be implied that he was confident due to getting over that simply fear and having trust that Sasuke will use his powers wisely.

You introduced another argument about whether Hagoromo knew of Sasuke's Rinnegan abilities. The original thing we were discussing was whther if Hagoromo had all of the Rinnegan abilities. My answer to the original question that the OP asked is still yes. Hagoromo has all of the Rinnegan abilities because he is the first/original user of the Rinnegan. If he gave the gift to Sasuke, why would he not have used it before. We don't really know of Hagoromo's Rinnegan abillties so much. We know of his Yin/Yang powers but not specifically on his Rinnegan abilities.
My point is that Hagoromo knew of such a power and has probably used it before. He knew of all the special abilities because it had also said he had been watching over his transmigrants for centuries. A guy so observant must have been knowing all of these and must know how to perform these techniques.
