There is a good reason why Naruto has always had help vs Nagato even then he usually gets captured and then saved in a trollish way by kishi.This case was that Kabuto couldnt sense Itachi and nor could he dodge a massive glowing sword even though he can sense a small amount of chakra forming in Itachis eye

The sooner people realise Naruto always gets captured by Nagato with help and then gets saved by plot the jutsu the better

I am sorry but this fight was a troll setup by Kishi. I mean you are really telling me that Naruto forgot everything that he learned while fighting with Pain of the Six Paths. He should have been so much careful by already knowing his powers. If anything I thought that Kishi was going to make Naruto switch to Sage Mode since he has an advantage since he definitely cannot absorb or see Nature Energy.

I guess Kishi did not want him to just be destroyed by turning into a Frog Statue and wanted to give a nice twist by having two epic characters fighting each other and finally shutting up a lot of nay sayers about each side of the fanboys.
