Obito became the Juubi's jinchuuriki, and his sharingan didn't become one.
Why? It is because that the Sage didn't have sharingan in the first place.
What I am trying to say is that the Rinnegan really is a mutated byakugan. Hear me out friends.
First the Sage had byaakugan but he is not necessarily a hyuuga. He then became the juubi jin and after some reasonable bracket of time hee gained control over the juubi and transformed his byakugan (which I may add, a different byakugan from today's version) into rinnegan.
Time skip...he had sons. The elder son inheriting his eyes, meaning his original eyes byakugan...fathers the first hyuugas. The younger son fathers the uzumakis probably. Then conflict between the two sons happened. They battled.......elder defeated aand his eyes sealed.
So.the first hyuugas continue living..their bloodline kept preserved. As for the elder son he awakened the sharingan..a juubi inheritance. So hyuugas and uchihas now are two different yet somehow related clans.
So.the sage's byakugan plus the juubi equals the rinnegan...sharingan a hidden variable.
Sharingan awakened and can become rinnegan but not byakugan. Why? the juubi has sharinnegan right? Only the ripple pattern manifested on the sage but with it the essenceof the sharingan has also been in there since. His son got his once eyes but also got that essence which later took over. Just reverse the chain it woul be back to the mutated byakugan.
In obitos case..he doesn't have byakugan and already has rinnegan.

uzumakis we believe are the perfect container for tailed beasts esp kyuubi. So why can obito be a fair one? Speculations:
