Rin

I just finished reading over the Kakashi Gaiden portion of the manga and realized that despite having revealed the Rin character, they never said anything about where she is. At least I haven't caught onto it or don't remember it.

Did they reveal that she was dead or what? If so, any info on how she died? I remember hearing about rumors of Rin being a part of the Akatsuki before Pain and Konan were revealed (a loooooong time ago, I know).

Rin is supposedly dead because when kakashi died during the pain arc he said everyone close to him died.

Well I did say I didn't think thats what happened. but to get the MS you need to kill your best friend, and Kakashi has like no friends. He needed to get it somehow... Am i wrong?

If I recall, I think he mentioned how he obtained his through a different method - basically by forcing enough chakra into it. I'm not sure if that's true though. Never know, he may have had to do such, though I just wonder if he had the MS all this time, why he didn't just use it against Orochimaru, Itachi, or Zabuza. I mean, he was willing to use it to save Chouji (of all people) from death, so I think it's safe to assume he doesn't really spare a needed chance.

Then again, I could be talking out of my ass.

I'm pretty sure he gets it after the gap. It has been talked about on other threads... and I just checked Narutopedia real quick which said he got it during the skip by "undisclosed means", though I personally don't remember him talking about how he got it at all. I'll have to go back and read.. do you know which chapter about?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure myself that it wasn't until the gap. I get remember which chapter it was, but I remember him talking to Itachi about his eyesight. It's either when Itachi/Kisame showed up again or when Kakashi used his MS against one of Deidara's explosions.
