After reading today's manga at first I thought Rin's reason for dying was kind of awesome.... To protect Konoha from 3 Tails and all....
But now I think it was like Rin was trolled by Kishi sama.... She is very strong yet she is weak....

She was a Jinchuriki....
She knew The Mist Shinobi wanted her to destroy Konoha using 3 Tails....

If she knew that death was inevitable for her then she could have tried to harness 3 Tails power and tried and died....

Insted she burdened Kakashi for the rest of his life by getting herself stabbed by Raikiri....

I thought of that too but she could have warned Kakashi to get a little away the moment she was able to start harnessing it.... If she knew she was going to die then It makes no sense to commit suicide insted of using such a huge power and stop the enemy.... =D =D
