My friend and I were discussing Rin and he said something interesting. What if Rin was the one that helped transplant the Rinnegan into Tobi's eye? And that she was also the one who transplanted Itachi's eyes into Sasuke? After all Uchiha werent medical nin...just a thought.

It is a plausibility, however, IF the kill your best friend is the true way of awakening your Mangekyou Sharingan and IF Trolbito is tobi then he would have had to have killed Rin.
But that would make sense, he could have kept her in the space time jutsu

Theres a good chance tobi killed her. Just think for a minute, obito is healed who's the first person he would have contated probably rin. He reveals himself she rejects him he kills her in his rage maybe accidentally and then blames it on kakashi and the leaf.something like anakin and padme. All he has left of his old life is gone and he's got left is rage.
