Rin Is Not Madara's Trump Card

I liked this idea at first, but it's simply not true.

If this was Madada's trump card, it wouldn't work; Obito no longer cares about Rin.

Not in the way you all think he does, and I can prove this. He misses the idea of Rin, not Rin herself. Rin represented everything pure and good about the shinobi world. With her death, Obito lost faith in the system and is working towards his current goal of changing everything so there is no more pain.

If Obito only cared about Rin being alive, he just could have used Rinne Tensei.

You're completely right about the whole thing of how Obito sees Rin now but anyone who really thinks Madara would try and use Rin to take advantage of Obito in this situation is naive. No way something like that would actually work with as much Obito has done now.

Obito still cares about Rin, If shed be reanimated with rinne tensei it would change a lot, but of course Rin doesnt have anything to do with Madara's trump card, did anyone even suggest this in a serious sense? I mean, a kid could write a better story than that

Madara probably discovered how to use senjutsu and probably knows all rinnegan techs... I mean, the sage battled him pre-acquiring the Rinnegan with Senjutsu and fuinjutsu... I think Madara knows fuinjutsu as well, since Obito was his apprentice and he tought him how to extract Bijuu...

I'd say there's a 75% chance his trump card will not be his triumph ticket to victoryland, though.

If obito found out rin is actually alive, then (the most likely explanation would be madara manipulated and lied to him) then he may rethink what he is doing. He may give up on eye of the moon plan because the turning point for him was rins tragic death. If he finds out madara did all the things to turn him, to give up on the world, and want to create a new one, he may see the new world as a fake.

It would have to be an alive rin, who was never dead, or madara explaining how he essentially killed rin.

Edo rin or rinne tensei rin, would not inflict enough shock, to cause obito to doubt himself.
