Hello everyone, and welcome to my first thread.
To start, I would like to say that the only reason I believe the Rikudou Sennin is an Uzumaki is that he is known for being the Jinchuuriki of the strongest Tailed Beast, just like how the Uzumaki are known for being able to host the current strongest Tailed Beast. Also, there is the fact of Uzumaki bodies being stronger than Senju bodies, so the Sage would at least have the strongest type of body we know of that could have been before the Senju.
With that said, I would like to explain how Rikudou being an Uzumaki changes the relationship between the two. Instead of thinking of Naruto as having some unknown relation to the Senju clan making him a descendant of the younger son of the sage, try thinking of him as being his own, brand new sage. Maybe the Sage of Three Ways. Since they are both from the same clan, and we know that the Sage's sons went on to start the Senju and Uchiha, Naruto would not be a descendant of the sage. I think of Naruto having his own body of the sage, and Senjus obviously having the body of the former sage.
Some of you might say that if Naruto is really his own sage than why doesn't he have his own Rinnegan eyes? Well, I believe that the sage obtained them from becoming the Juubi's host, just like how Naruto has whiskers or Kurama's eyes when he goes Bijuu Mode.
Others might ask why does Naruto look so much like the Rikudou Sennin? The Bijuu mode cloak is made from Kurama's chakra, which was a part of the juubi's chakra that the sage created a new living being from. For me, it is not hard to see why gaining and using the power that the Sage created would make it look like you are using the power of the Sage of Six Paths.
Since the Bijuu's are the Sage's interpretation of the parts of the Juubi, and that Naruto has begun to remove the hatred from the Tailed Beasts, there is a good chance, when the bijuu's decide to let Naruto be their host, that the ten tails that is created will not be one of hate but love and peace. And that is Naruto's answer.
