Using my sword (description at bottom), allowing the explosion/splash to push me upwards/slightly backwards (we're still mid-range though). Since I used water, the lava now evaporates into poisonous gas. And while I'm in the air I immediately use:

Description: A Huge blast of wind that levels anything in its path.
The blast of wind picks up the poisonous gas rapidly. Remember that you were futiley using rising earth spears, meaning that even if you manage to defend against my wind, it'd be so close that the poisonous gas would spread around you. Even if you use a fire to evaporate it, at least some of it would have already parted from the wind and started moving around you, also, this inevitably stops you from doing your final jutsu. Afterwards, I fininsh by throwing several kunai and shuriken at you. Since you're likely to use a fire jutsu to defend against the wind, and fire isn't something tangible but it isn't something that's see-through either, the kunai and shuriken would go through any type of fire you create, and you wouldn't see it until it's too late.
*As I see what your doing I quickly stop my earth jutsu and use:
