*Appears out of thin air*
Oi, Katon. ~_~ The most repetitive thing to teach.
Now have you had any training in fire style before or are we starting from scratch?
Also, did you learn the water walking and tree climbing techniques already?
I have had no previous Katon training, no. I did not learn the water walking or tree climbing techniques, no.![]()
(For the sake of this training the terrain will be simply a grassy plain with trees spread sparsely around.)
Ok so we're really starting from the beginning though. Alright then, it's mandatory that I have you explain a few things before we go on. Just three simple questions. First, what is chakra? Second, what are ninja and ninjutsu? Finally, what is the relation between the three of them?
*As I say this I begin to walk over with you to a particularly tall tree in the area. The tree goes up at least about 30 meters.*
1.) Chakra is something that is required for even the most basic technique. It's basically something that is created when you mould physical energy and spiritual energy. When we mould different ratios of the two energies, new types of chakra can then be formed. Most ninja have a natural affinity to one type of chakra, like Naruto, but they have the capacity to create elemental chakra apart from their own affinity. There are five basic types, each stronger and weaker to another.
2.) Ninja are the primary focus and the main military power in the series. A female ninja is known as a kunoichi. Most come from a hidden village, of which some come from specialised ninja clans, and will perform missions for a fee. They make up the Narutoverse's foundations.
3.) Ninjutsu basically means "Ninja art". Now, there are many types of Ninja arts, for example, Rasengan. It's basically a term that refers to almost any technique, and allows the user to do something that they otherwise would be incapable of doing, including the usage of weapons and such...
4.) The relationship is;
Ninja use CHAKRA to create NINJUTSU. Without Chakra Shinobi would basically not exist, but they'd be more like Samurais who use traditional weapons. It's a special link because one cannot exist without the other...
How was that, Sensei?![]()
1. Good... but not exactly. Chakra is in its most literal meaning a life force. The thing is, it's not just used to use techniques. It's literally a life force for everyone (in the Ninja World at least). Non-shinobi have chakra and it's used constantly. Basically, it's energy. What separates shinobi from normal people would simply be the ability to focus, mold, and release chakra in a variety of ways.
2. Basically. The simplest way to put it would be as I said above. A ninja is one who can focus, mold, and release chakra.
3. Good.
4. One correction, a ninja without chakra would not be akin to a samurai. They would be dead. As I said above, everyone has and needs chakra, samurai included. And samurai can actually mold their chakra, but they do it in different ways than ninja. They simply cannot use ninjutsu or genjutsu.
But overall nicely said.
Now... let's get down to it.
(Ki Nobori no Shugyō) - Tree Climbing Practice
Rank: E
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 5
Damage points: N/A
Description: This is a training method used to gain the basic skills of chakra control. This training involves focusing a fixed amount of chakra to the bottom of one's feet, and using that to climb a tree without using one's hands. If the stream of chakra is too weak, the user will lose their footing on the tree and fall off. If it is too strong, the user will be pushed away from the tree, causing the bark of the tree to break around the point of contact and the user to fall. This technique becomes second nature to shinobi with more practice.
Note: Technique only for use of training methods.
It's rather simple really. Start by focusing chakra into the soles of your feet. Don't focus a lot, but focus enough to cover the entire sole of your foot so that no part of your foot does not have chakra over it. Once you're confident that you have focused enough chakra into the soles of your feet, attempt to walk up the tree. As you do this, keep focusing the chakra into your feet; never stop doing this or else you'll simply fall off. Eventually this will become second-nature, but for now you really have to focus on keeping one constant stream of chakra going.
I will keep that in mind. Thank you, Riku-Sensei
I start by focusing chakra into the soles of my feet. I only focus a little bit, but I make sure I focus enough to cover the entire sole of my foot so that no part of my foot does not have chakra over it. Now that I feel ready, and I have focused enough chakra into the soles of my feet, I attempt to walk up the tree. As I do this, I keep focusing the chakra into my feet. I make sure never stop doing this.
How was that, Riku-sama?![]()
Sorry for the delay. Been a bit preoccupied.
*The moment that you set foot onto the tree, your chakra repels yourself off of it.*
Close, but no cigar. Less chakra. Focus too much and you'll bounce yourself off of the tree, too little and you won't stick. You have to find a balance between the two. The only way to really do that is with experience. So...
*pulls out a chair and sits down*
Keep trying until you get it right. Have fun.![]()
