The time in which Rikūdo lived, was the most brutal and war torn era of all time! Human strife was heavily abundant. For every human desire, there was conflict, wars for everything, every resource. You have all heard Jiraiya talking about it.

Rikūdo did not make himself the Juubi's jinchuuriki because the Juubi was wreaking havoc on the world! Mankind itself was intent upon destroying itself through these constant wars for one thing or another...........

That is what the Rikūdo sage wanted to stop.

By becoming the Juubi's jinchuuriki, he acquired other worldly powers. Yes! One of those powers was the Rinnegan, which was the direct result of sealing the Juubi in himself!

By becoming Rikūdo sage from an ordinary person, he ended all the wars by making mankind respect and bow, to his power and will. Although this might not have been his ideal method, he had to do it, to put an end to the human suffering in his era. And hence, he was hailed as the saviour of the world.

The Juubi has no will or feelings of its own, no motives and especially no alterier motives. It was no threat to anyone. The Sage needed the Juubi's power to make mankind listen.

How can an ordinary person subdue and seal the Juubi?

Before he became the Rikūdo sage, I believe most NB theories were correct when they said, he was originally a member of the Uzumaki clan, who knew powerful sealing jutsu! That is how he was able to seal the Juubi in himself!

After all was said and done and the Sage had to choose his successor from his deathbed. He chose the one whose way would be through love, and not power!

This is because the Rikūdo sage himself had brought peace through his own power, by forcing mankind to listen! That was not the way to achieve true peace, for mankind would just start fighting again if there was no one to watch over them anymore!

So he had to choose his younger son, but the older who had readied himself to carry on his fathers will, would not stand for it. Which....as you all know started the curse of hatred.

The older wanted to keep the peace through power, as it already was. The Sage wanted to change that and bring true peace, because he believed that humans were capable of understanding each other.

It's an interesting read, but you should work in how the Sage divided these powers and why the Jūbi's eyes (tomoes) have changed.
