Because a Television and a Car are two completely different things, and clearly technology is advancing differently in the Narutoverse than it does/did in real life.

The anime clearly shows Feudal Lords Having Video Conference !

then why in the hell do The hidden village of sand Send Takamaru(Fatest eagle)
to konoha to inform them about gaara's kidnapping (pun intended) ??

Why can't they use the same technology the feudal lords use ?

No seriously, you make a good point, but I think they're there mostly for the convenience of the story's progression. I mean, instead of introducing us to an older or newly invented means of communication or whatever the purpose be of the slightly advanced equipment, he chose to use already existing stuff. It's easier on us readers since we're already acquaintanced with these things, and as such, he can smoothly progress the story.
And as you know, it's a fictious story, which means he could make pigs fly if he wanted to, making it perfectly logical if he explained it as the pigs having developed their own chakra channels, all of them having the curse mark and transformation as Sasuke, which allows him to fly.

Maybe they like candles, I don't know. Perhaps the TVs were simply powered by lightning-style jutsu, or some crazy hamster-wheel contraption, and it's just too much work to try to use those sources for simple things like lights when candles work just fine.

On top of all that, I'm sure the writer(s) of Naruto don't really pay much attention to such minor details like this.

actually, it does.. maybe I explained it erroneously. Again, by using things we are already familiar with, he can easily continue the story without having to explain all of the workings behind the equipment/machines etc. this saves him time as a mangaka, as he has to create one chapter per week, which most likely consumes a lot of his time, so consider it a solution of convenience.

edit: sorry if you have to read my posts with some mistakes in sentence builds etc. I'm writing them on a most irritating device, using an auto-correcting function.

tv wise, the fuedal lords dont come out really so they had to do it VIA video.

its a real shame on the writers ,
here we have hundreds of the members on this site who spend at least an hour a day discussing about small details regrading previews ,reviews and the outcome of the current arc ,
and here the writers dont even try to make an effort do their bit(regrading some serious flaws) !!

It's not just Naruto. It's pretty much every story ever written. Even the old Superman comics used to have a section with letters to the writer, and a lot of them were about minor flaws in the story. Nothing can really be perfect, I guess.

Also, there are tons of people on Narutobase, I can't help but think there are a lot less writers for the Naruto series. Not to mention the writers have to worry about the actual story line and larger elements rather than simple things like why ninjas don't build/drive cars.
