Raiton in the narutoverse is on of the basic basic elements. Its functions by shinobi are the control and release of lightning. It can be used offensively and defensively. Shinobi create lightning by vibrating their chakra. This nature release is more taxing on the user than other nature releases but the effects on a target can result in effects like cutting or paralysis.

In the real world (this isn't it?!) lightning is a naturally occurring phenomenon in weather for many reasons. Lightning can occur in rainstorms, dry weather, and it can be triggered. Lightning can come from the sky and the ground with great impact and can even turn sand into glass.

Lightning is strong against earth, it can cut through and destroy earth with ease. It is weak against wind however because wind insulates electricity. Lightning can be conducted by water and can use water to strengthen attacks.

Kakashi is a raiton user who uses raikiri. The Third Raikage utilised Lightning Armor. Darui is a user of Black Lightning.

I've been meditating these past few hours. My hair is flying wildly around. I feel like I am at the climax of something...my fingers feel light but dangerous to touch. I feel free but afraid of the power.

Throughout the rest of my body the charges feel wild and sharp. I envision myself taking a cold shower and i can feel that I am more in control of the energy. It now feels like it it humming through my body rather that stabbing it. My arms and legs feel especially energized and I can here less wild crackling.
