All-in-all, it was alright. I enjoyed most of it, even if there were a lot of flaws.
I'll start with the good. Toneri was an excellent villain in my opinion, even if there wasn't all that much of him. He was honestly unlike any other Naruto villain, and had a pretty unique and fair reasoning for what he was doing. Unfortunately, in execution his mindset wasn't well-explored and he was kind of left being nothing more than a reason for Naruto to be more invested in Hinata. Waste of a good character, but a good character nevertheless. He was definitely enjoyable.
The animation was top-notch, especially the fights, and the music was incredible. I especially liked Toneri's themes and the music that played during his fight with Naruto. The fight music was reminiscent of the music in the part one anime, which was a good call-back. Toneri's themes were very calm, but they were also intense and dramatic, which set the scene very well.
The plot had its moments, I suppose. It was one of the weaker aspects, but I did enjoy the genjutsu Naruto and Hinata were caught in, and it was nice seeing all the old characters again. There were quite a few plot holes, though, and thinking about them was distracting. Learning more about Hamura and the Otsutsuki clan was really nice, though, and seeing Hamura himself was even better. Sakura was actually very good in the movie, kicking ass and helping out Hinata. I liked her role.
Hinata wasn't used well. The movie sort of devolved into a damsel in distress situation, and Hinata was very obviously the damsel. I liked how she did attempt to get shit done at Toneri's lair, though she was stopped quickly, but that didn't prevent it from being a highly cliche plot.
I wish we had gotten more Sasuke. Really, three scenes and one line out of one of the manga's main characters? That was probably the worst part of it. Characters showed up and did very little, as if only to remind us that they exist. Sasuke should have had a better role, and though seeing all the old characters was nice, it felt really pointless and empty, as if they were just there for the sake of being there. When characters were used, though, they were mostly used well. The Hinata rescue team of Naruto, Sakura, Shikamaru, and Sai was alright, though Naruto was the only one who made any real impact.
The romance with Hinata and Naruto felt boring to me, but I'm not much of a shipper. A NaruHina fan would certainly think otherwise, so 'boring romance' isn't an objective criticism.
Overall, I give the movie a 7/10. It was hit-and-miss... there was some stuff I really liked, and other things that made me roll my eyes.
