He beats Gerard by ignoring Toshiro's advice and throwing him off the wharwalt. If he could knock him over with the eyepatch, it should be easy to throw him off without it without it. He shouldn't even need Nozarashi.

Kenpachi with his eyepatch on still was portrayed to be stronger with the meteor thing. Take the eyepatch off and the thing is definitive. And read the chapter's 668 first page, it clearly says "the strongest shinigami vs the strongest schustaffel". Kenpachi is clearly portrayed to be above them, and by feats he shits on them.

By feats he shits on shunsui without the eyepatch, and with the eyepatch on he still beats byakuya. With the incoming bankai he's only gonna be under Yamamoto, he'll surpass Ichibe (and he's already above the squad 0 since he already is keeping up with giant Gerard while squad 0 got stomped by the normal versions of the schustaffel)
