I played the demo, not really scary but creepy. They nailed down the shit-your-pants atomsphere pretty well.
I haven't seen any of the main characters as of now and it looks too much like Silent Hills/a random indie game. I'm also not a fan of the first person view. I hope the final product looks better but it seems to not be my cup of tea. B-but maybe we'll get different play styles, like this outlast one, one that's like 1-3 and one that's like 4-6 (probably not).
But there's still the Remake of RE2 so I'm not devastated... much. Btw why are people saying that this game looks good because it "goes back to the roots"? Resident Evil was never like that and always mostly action with some non scary horror on the side. Even the very first one.
I'm actually glad there'll be new characters, we can actually get regular, relatable characters this time around and not some heavily trained, experienced solider esque characters lining up perfect headshots. Usually the final product will have upgraded graphics, i don't think capcom will pull a ubisoft and downgrade the graphics. first person view horror games are generally considered "scarier" than third person horror games at least in modern times, overall it's not always true i think silent hill and fatal frame are the scariest games i've ever played. Also it's pretty obvious PT inspired this teaser.
Because people want to experience that survival horror feeling again. While it's true that the original games had some action scenes, you had to conserve ammo and had limited spaces/saves. you actually had to think whether you should pump this zombie full of lead or run away from it to save ammo for later. Modern RE games (4-6) traded in those factors for over the top action and co-op (okay RE4 didn't have co-op but it was more fun than trying to survive). Getting ammo is also alot easier and there's a checkpoint system(RE4 only had the former tho).
That being said, i don't think the full game will be like this. This is just a farmhouse, i doubt the full game will take place there unless there's huge underground tunnels underneath.
