Requesting the help of an apple genius

So, look. I've got this laptop right next to me. Real nice model, HP. I use it for stuff. A bit of this and that. But, a few months back the image and monitor aren't being displaced correctly. So I take an HDMI cable, plug it into the boob tube and bam! Works.

My roommate says it's a loose wire in the cuffling or power matrix. I don't know, I never went to any engineering classes. So, how hard is it to correct this loose end? Should I take apart my laptop and fix it, or pay for someone to do it for me?

You're going to have to be more descriptive. Not being displayed correctly could mean the screens aspect ratio is incorrect and has nothing to do with hardware or other; it'll just be a simple matter of changing your screen resolution to its highest. If it doesn't display at all, that is a much more serious matter.

Did he also tell you that you need to go over 88mph?

I don't know, I never went to any engineering classes.

then don't try to repair it yourself. Chances are, you'll discharge static electricity and destroy the circuits.

So, how hard is it to correct this loose end?

It depends what the problem is. If it's a couple bent pins, they could just be bent back. If the circuit is damaged then it's far from repair if not impossible to fix without replacement. You have to find out the exact problem first.

You said before that you don't know, so pay someone to do it for you. Be more descriptive of the "symptoms" of the issue so that some of us may be able to save you some time and/or money in case it's a simple matter.
