Pretty much all the Vbulletin adapt to the same rep interface (except the distribution of points, with each forum varies) I don't see what's the big deal, unless you aren't familiar with Vbulletin forums.
You might be aware of the Kumi system they had in NB back in '12. Doe i was not around that time but apparently the system was flawed had had to be removed. Rep system is pretty smooth imo, see you can't expect a perfect system, everything got its pros and cons, all you can do is make it relatively more advantageous for the users. Now, rep abuse has been done a lot of times and i guess its still done, People still rep there alts, friends still rep each other and get a huge ass rep power. Earlier FG also had the rep option and lord has witnessed the ferocity of Rep whoring there though ultimately the rep option was removed from there.See the flaw in that logic is why to keep those little green boxes if at the end of the day you have to accept that they are usleas and also rep abuse can be corrected by what I mentioned. If it can be corrected, why not correct it ?
Incorporating number of posts in rep system does not mean that neg rep be allowed in FG.You might be aware of the Kumi system they had in NB back in '12. That still happens and would continue to happen even if you link number of posts to reputation system. In my suggestion, I have made no claims that this would be reduced by new rep system . There is a report button to stop trolling. Rep button is meant to assess the quality of your posts. Now what you're suggesting sounds pretty one sided suggestion. Will definitely increase your rep i guess Lol Now, the most active section of NB where most of the hot discussion occurs is full of trolls and variety of fandoms flaming wars and bashing characters, and most of the trolls end up getting reps. "Dat dude just said some cool shit about my fav character, lemme rep that Awesome dude" . That's the mentality of the members, now you may look at rep like a "Personality meter" but it doesn't work that way when you gotta deal with a whole bunch of shitheads who only give shits to their respective 'Lawds'
I suggested removing Forum games and Premium chats posts from the total posts , in order to get to number of posts which would actually be linked to your rep bar. Since the system I suggested has number of posts in denominator, the higher your number of posts and the lower your reputation points , the lesser green bars your step system would show. Now Forum Game and Premium Chat posts don't usually fetch rep points and are not meant to fetch points. Hell there may even be other categories that I have probably missed. Counting those would increase the denominator and would thus be unfair to people.Plus, as a member whose been spending my time on this forum and posting here since the last two years i guess its pretty reasonable to award an additional rep point for a course of an year, and every 2k posts gets you a rep point, yeah, whats the big deal? you think making 2k post is easy(even though you're mostly posting on FG).
The system you suggested, after 2k posts the rep should become independent of the post count, Now lemme tell you something, if that happens, people won't even be having 10 rep points after a course of 3 years. And dividing the rep points with post counts? Now that would be a real ****ed up situation.
If the basic idea of the system is to get people to make quality posts, then how does a failed system encourage them ? It does not.The basic idea of rep is encouraging people to make quality posts or just post to increase the forums activity, for admins its just a way of keeping the site going and ofcourse it pleases the larger public too.
So yeah, Your argument is invalid ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
If everyone is using a system which can be improved then why NB should not be the first to improve it?Pretty much all the Vbulletin adapt to the same rep interface (except the distribution of points, with each forum varies) I don't see what's the big deal, unless you aren't familiar with Vbulletin forums.
