I base a lot of the story on how much side character development the story has. If the main characters are the only ones with any sort of development, it defeats the purpose of even adding them and detracts from the overall story. Not saying that it should all be about the side characters, but Kishi made a HUGE mistake in trying to dimish their value by bringing in all of these "God-like" abilities into play.
