I liked the fights before shippuden the most. Especially around chunin exams. They were much simpler in practice but involved using these fewer, less powerful techniques in smart ways

The fights in the war have almost all revolved around tactics and strategies. It's true that the power balance is changing but it doesn't mean that they are bad.

I'll take:
-Naruto and Bee vs Tobi (chapters 564 to 572 and 598 to present)
-The 5 Kages vs Madara (chapters 560 to 563, 575 to 578 and 588 to 590)

Against any of the fights in part 1.

Also, the Akatsuki were manipulated by Tobi and are not doing this because of Rin.

I enjoyed that fight mainly becaise I thought Hidan brought a crazy new personality to the manga and in the battleifled. If i recall correctly I think he esaid something like "You atheist jerks! ...Oh, I just burned myself" I found it funny because he had his own beliefs about religion and that comment made me laugh.
