In one of the previous religious threads, somebody pointed out that sometimes there are violent divergences between the followers of certain confessions of the same religion.

So here are my questions:

1) do you belong to any organized religion?
2) if so, do you follow a certain denomination of that religion?
3) did you choose that denomination for yourself?
4) how do you feel with the other confessions of your religion? Are you hostile to their teachings?

I'll answer first:

1) yes, Christianity
2) I'm a born again, non denominational with a Catholic heritage. I don't plan to stay so all my life though
3) That's what I'm trying to do
4) I have a greater respect for Eastern Orthodoxy, but I'm fine with all the denominations afterall. I wouldn't jump in saying "you are wrong!" to any Christian follower, the only exception being Oneness Pentecostals. Nothing I would use violence to, obviously.

1) Yes, I am a Buddhist.
2) Mahayana, primarily Zen.
3) Yes.
4) No. I try to defend all religions. None are perfect, but they are practiced by man, and man is flawed.

I don't believe in any religion and I don't believe in an all omnipotent, all powerful and all knowing God.
I believe that there is a possiblity of an existing entity or energy that main share properties assigned to "The" god" but not all of them and certainly not one pertaining to the abrahmic god and any other deriviation.

Basically I don't believe in a god that is preoccupied with us and demands justice or punishment based on our human values.

The universe and our own fates are up to us and so is the future of our species.

The unisverse is so much more fantastic and magical then some made up book would have you believe.

I think any religion is fine
Fine so long as their views don't trample
On human rights and promote violence.

Which most do.
