If the problem isn't religion, but the fact that people use religion as an excuse for their horrible acts, then without religion, they will just find another excuse.

Thats what I actually think to. Some people like to blame religion as if its the cause of everything. Reality is even without religion we would do the same damn thing. The core of the problem is the people. Not religion itself.

Means to an end. Not that Religious groups actually do general good activism-wise but more so giving people something to hold onto and live for.

You can replace religion with anything. Film, people, sports, work. My god is learning.

You choose your religion. You don't choose your race or sexuality.

The point is not all people of a particular race are same and similarly not all religions are same, whether you have a choice or not is irrelevant, think of it like this I like a particular genra of music or a particular artist, does that mean you can generalize it as just music and call it crap simply because I had a choice? All music?

But you do understand there is a major difference? Like yes, you have a point about generalising but when you commit yourself knowingly to a cause, you're actively and knowingly making a difference (be it good or bad)

Being born into a clause is not at all the same as that.
