No, but when I was 4 years old my grandfather and I went to a place where people were doing something in our religion called Matham and the day only happens once a year which is called Ashura, and sometimes at that day in Afghanistan there are terrorists who start killing the people who are performing their Matham. So suddenly there were all this bombing and shooting sounds I was too small to see anyhting because their were to many people infront of me, so I got scared and my grandfather picked me up and ran off.

Well, religion s a way for some people to find a greater meaning in their life,explain things they don't understand with a higher power and comfort their selves with thoughts of a greater purpose after death etc,etc.
Faith in a certain religion or god is a necessity for some people.Not my kind of thing though,I choose to believe in less fancy,everyday things...
But everybody is entitled to believe what they want,as long as they are not fanatic and try to enforce their ideals on others or resort to violent methods to spread their religions.

The Index of Global Philanthropy, 2007 states: “Religious people are more charitable than non-religious not only in giving to their own congregations, but also – regardless of income, region, social class, and other demographic variables – significantly more charitable in their secular donations and informal giving.”

The reasons is because there is more drinving force behind the system talking about.
From atheism position we could afirme that we are in a wrecking ship, a titanic.Because we know the univers will die one day, it will suffer a heat death.So nothing will happen, we are in titanic.What's the point of helping an old women or giving a glass of milk ?

hegemonic empires,take all the ressources,give none to no one else" wich i call "atheist capitalism" which has this world view that a very minority have all the ressources and most of the world, for exemple 2 billions in the planet don't have sanitation,food and water.I mean this is a disgrace.

I think religion is a must. I myself dont believe in god but when i think hard i learn that religion is maintaining the earth.

1. religion helps people know the values of mankind. Bible, gita, quran all talk about mankind and shows us the way to a happy life.

2. religion is a way to be away from this worlds sorrow. When you are unsuccessful, you can blame it on god. This helps many people , even i have done this and dont feel bad for this.

3. last but not the least
WHERE THERE IS RELIGION THERE CANT BE TRUTH,
WHERE THERE IS TRUTH, THERE IS NO NEED FOR RELIGION.


I have to edit a little to say something
Its not religion that says to kill goats, cow on certain festivals. They were made thousands yrs ago by someone. Neither bible, nor quran or gita says to kill animals or harm others.
It was written there to respect even a small animal as small as ant. Like suleman did in quran, soloman in bible, parshuram in hinduism.
Religion is just a way to make a cover so that noone peeks inside.

Look into Buddhism, and Taoism... all about truth... and how to deal with it... same for sorrow, happiness... but mostly: how to be compassionate.

Kindness is necessary, so my religion is kindness only. No indoctrination, and out dated morals for me

I believe only certain facets of Religion could be thought of as a necessity and those are kindness, general belief in morals, the ideals of truth. Anything beyond that would be far too constricting for the growth of any individual, as Religion or adherence to any defined school of thought hinders perception and open-mindedness. In my humble opinion people should always go for the 'fence sitting' approach and always keep their minds open for all things.

People need to believe there's a being higher and greater than themselves watching over them so that when life throws so much shit at them that they can't throw it back, they need to believe that someone will help them through it. It's like hoping for Superman.

How about believing in yourself instead of some imaginary being?

When people get a job or survive a car crash or overcome the loss of a loved one and serious depression, they're quick to thank some imaginary deity for it. Yet in doing so, they rob themselves of self-confidence and credit. They're the ones who did those things. Any other thinking is straight up delusional.
