Religion is necessary.

I think religion is a must. I myself dont believe in god but when i think hard i learn that religion is maintaining the earth.

1. religion helps people know the values of mankind. Bible, gita, quran all talk about mankind and shows us the way to a happy life.

2. religion is a way to be away from this worlds sorrow. When you are unsuccessful, you can blame it on god. This helps many people , even i have done this and dont feel bad for this.

3. last but not the least
WHERE THERE IS RELIGION THERE CANT BE TRUTH,
WHERE THERE IS TRUTH, THERE IS NO NEED FOR RELIGION.

I have to edit a little to say something
Its not religion that says to kill goats, cow on certain festivals. They were made thousands yrs ago by someone. Neither bible, nor quran or gita says to kill animals or harm others.
It was written there to respect even a small animal as small as ant. Like suleman did in quran, soloman in bible, parshuram in hinduism.
Religion is just a way to make a cover so that noone peeks inside.

So believing in religion is the only way you can learn to live a happy life? So how you want to live your life is the wrong way of being "happy" is what you're trying to say? lol.

As for point 2, Religion is the CAUSE of sorrow - You don't understand what people will are willing to do for religion, it's actually pretty frightening. You have no idea how many people have had to suffer in the hands of extremists religious believers.

I could expand these points but honestly, we'd be here forever and i'm on my phone.

I really don't get why everybody and his mother-in-law makes a thread about religion this week.
What happened suddenly? Who is the culprit that started this (lame) trend?

OT: 1.Indeed (at least almost..it seems too superficial the way you put it) but that's not exactly what people have in mind when they talk about "religion". That's what they should though.

Oh lol I'm sorry you don't know but us muslims know because I'm a Mushlim who is called shia, and there are other kind of Muslims that are called Sooni and what so ever. These Muslims have fights between each other because the shia people say they are correct but the sooni people say no our way of Islam is correct.

To get to the terrorist part, there are only terrorists because when they kill they say this is in the name of god, or something like god needed them to be killed. Their is suicide bombings because terrorists think when they sacrifice themselves to kill others they will go to heaven and all. Well you get the point. Terrorists only do their things because of religion. It is kinda hard to explain but if you were muslim you would know what I'm talking about.

IMO, religion is an escape. People need to believe there's a being higher and greater than themselves watching over them so that when life throws so much shit at them that they can't throw it back, they need to believe that someone will help them through it. It's like hoping for Superman.

I myself do not want to be a part of any religion, I cannot be happy as a religious person.
