The article creator is the owner of the blog and his name is there with his photo. I didn't think that looked like someone insecure of his identity.

But in any case, why do you think only PhD holders can have relevant opinions regarding Religion? I feel anyone who has experienced or read much on religion should have much to say about the topic, but that's just me..

I didn't notice that.

PhD holders specialize in the area they spent years academically researching on, hence why their opinion is valid. They are experts. If I read a book on science, it's not going to make me a scientist. It's not just reading, it's understanding contextual texts of religion, which every atheist don't have, due to lack of specialization.

I answered your question. Religion is intangible so it can't enslave a person; religious government, institution can enslave a person, however. They are tangible with the ability to physically enforce religious codes. This is a problem with politics and not the teachings.
