regarding the evening elephant

i dunno if its been covered b4 ..
the evening elephant is said to consist of 5 punes varying in speed ...
but do the punches get slower or faster from speed 1 to speed 5 ?
can gai continuously go with speed 5 once he reaches this speed for the first time ?
or does he have to start from speed 1 all over again ?
i know the manga scans currently suggests the latter but u guys could just make a guess....

when gai first used it , he was interrupted by pain . one may guess that if he continues uninterrupted he could pull out that feat. and I don't see there are any scans which explicitly tell us how the speed varies

From my understanding- the scans that said speed was a mistranslation.
Depending on where you read the chapter, it changes.
Personally, I think the closest translation would be "step". Meaning evening elephant has 5 steps, not 5 speed levels.
