So I have a question for all you Minato die-hard fans, who claim that he is the best shinobi out there (for the sake of a versetile thread, answers from people who dont think that are very welcome too
). As much as I like Minato's character, the way I see his techniques (or the ones demonstrated so far), there is a giant flaw in his arsenal that, if exploited correctly, would lead to an easy defeat.
Given that his biggest advantage is his Hirainshin no Jutsu and that, smart as he is, he bases most of his strategies around it, what would Minato do if he is forced to fight over water? Say in the middle of a lake or in the sea with no chance of getting back to land easily (say because his enemy is clever enough to keep him occupied precisely there)? I am not pulling tails here, I am most genuinly asking, do you have any bright ideas, because the way I see it, he'd be pretty much f*cked.
He wouldn't be able to spread his Hiraishin Tags (last time I checked, kunai don't float) and his Hiraishin level 2 would allow only for a frontal attack, which would be anticipated and would, most likely, end worse for him than for his opponent (since, you know, most of his opponents wouldn't de-materialise in the moment of the attack like Tobito did). Furthermore, his barrier, which (as stated by Shikaku) is a space-time barrier, teleporting the attack to any chosen Hiraishin tag, will ultimately fail, because of the lack of Hiraishin Tags to divert it to in the first place.
Even if he had more techniques (and he most likely does), he'd be down to the level of most other powerful jonin when he is not able to utilise his signature move. That certainly wouldn't make him the most powerful ninja alive. Say, for the sake of argument, that his chakra element is water, say he is a master of Suiton techniques - that still wouldn't help him much when faced with someone like, oh, say Itachi Uchiha f.e. Heck, even Kakashi would have a solid chance. Most water-affinity shinobi would bear that in mind too and plan their attacks accordingly, his technique can be trumped.
So, what are your thoughts? How would you say Konoha's Yellow Flash would get out of that situation in all his awesomeness? Ideas?
